Flowchart Example

Flowchart ExampleThe following figure illustrates a simple process using a flowchart. The process begins when a customer orders the goods to the company, Marketing departments of the company will receive the order and enter that information into the enterprise information system that will send the order to the Distribution Centre. Distribution Centre section will then check the availability of product demand, and if the order is available, orders will be shipped to the customer along with the bill.
Conversely if the product ordered is not available, then they will notify to the Marketing and Marketing section will notify the customer.

Process Modeling Techniques

Process Modeling TechniquesProcess Modeling can be used as a tool in the planning system, analysis system that is usually to describe the system “as is”, and design a system that is usually to describe the system “to be”. In the previous post, I have already mentioned Classification Process Modeling Techniques. As for some examples of process modeling techniques are :

1. Flowchart
Flowchart is a systematic presentation of the process and logic of information-handling activities.

2. Gantt Chart
Gantt Chart is a drawing in which the y-axis describes the activities undertaken in the process, and the x axis describes the number of each activity.

3. IDEF3 Method
IDEF3 (Integrated Definition Methodology) is a description-method process,
where in this method provided a structured method that can be used by the domain expert to explain a system or situation as a sequence of activities.

Tools for Process Design

Tools for Process DesignSeveral kinds of tools for the design process include : Flow Diagrams, Process Charts, Time-Function/Process Mapping and Work Flow Analysis. Flowchart is a graphical representation of the steps to be followed in solving a problem which consists of a set of symbols, where each symbol represents a particular activity. Flowchart begins with the receipt of inputs, the input processing, and end with the appearance of output. Process chart is useful for systems analysts to describe the process in a procedure. Process chart indicates the activities and savings that are used in a procedure, can also indicate the distance events with each other and the time required by an activity. Process Mapping describes the process in a procedure, the department involved and the time required.
